Today we take on Championship-side and our Senior Affiliate Dundee FC in the what-was IRN-BRU cup, and is now the Tunnocks Caramel Wafer Cup, 1st Round. This is the one with the representatives from English non-league, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic.
Before then our Ressies beat Airdrie Res 2-0 (Goals from triallist AML Kieran Brophy & 16yo DC Andrew Todd), but we sustained 2 injuries, one to goalscorer Brophy (tight groin, 1-2 days), and the same for Cameron McGinn, our 3rd/4th choice striker.

Mackie & Gardiner made the League 1 Team of the Week π Our first of the season π
Before the Dundee game I check our Team Cohesion – Back to Average, with Atmos and Managerial Support both at very Good, so hoping we can avoid a fall by not getting destroyed today!!!
Dundee have had a decent start to the season in the Championship and have only lost on pens in competitive games this season (Raith & Aberdeen). I’m not expecting anything today past a decent showing. However if Dundee wanted to rest a few guys that would be great π

More of the same after the 4-1 v Stenny please!! This is definitely feeling more stable at the moment as formations go, especially as the defenders need to get to know each other. Dundee start with a 4-5-1 – Make of that what you will.
HT Dundee 0 Berwick 0

Dundee start strongly, as expected, Berwick in all white tonight, but we should have been 1-up in the 7th minute, Mitchell hitting a defender from 6 yards out with the goal at his mercy. A relatively even first 15. And that’s how it continued, Dundee with more chances, Berwick arguably with the better ones. 0-0 at Half Time, and we’ve got a decent chance here...
FT Dundee 1 (Nelson 77) Berwick 0 Att 6,130 (93 Away)

Before I looked up we’d gotten to 60 minutes… Mitchell coming off for Healy as he’s still getting back to fitness. Straight to Pens after 90 mins by the looks of it as well. Andy Turner on for Archie Gardiner with 20 left. Dundee had a goal disallowed in the 72nd for offside. But they scored in the 77th – McManus dispossed too easily from a really poor Mackie throw-in, Nelson scoring from 12 yards. Leitch on for McManus for the last 10 – expect a yellow from him π It finished 1-0 – Sinclair saved a terrible Nelson penalty in the 85th to keep it that way – Disappointing that the goal came from an error but a really decent showing versus quality opponents. We beat them 3-1 on chances….
We got just shy of Β£5k for the loss, and about Β£30k in gate receipts, so not a bad day really.
Next up is Alloa back at Shielfield Park – in 3 days again… See you then.
