I start today looking at the Projection functionality in FM19. Above I’ve gone into the Projection screen 3 times in the same game day (just clicked in, out and back in the screen) and I get 3 different projections.
Projection 1 has a End of 21/22 balance projection at -£34.8 – The graph shows about -£10k. Projection 2 has -£40.3k, graph shows -£55kish, Projection 3 has -£82.3k, graph shows about -£80k. Turnover figures are flip-flopping all over the place (£151k, £134k, £135k) and is being recalculated every time you enter the screen, which is blatantly wrong. Hoping this is fixed in FM20!! At our level its an important tool to see what effect not getting that extra player at £40/wk will have on your bottom line.
Our Reserves played Sauchie Res on the day after the Preston Athletic game, winning 2-0, youngsters Colin May and Callum Brown with the goals.
There were 4 league games on the Wednesday night.

We’re still 6th, and are now 4 points of the lead on the same games as Edusport (Who have a load of French youngsters playing for them…….) & Dalbeatie Star. Only Gala themselves have played less games above us, though Queen’s Park, Cumbernauld & Kelty could all leapfrog us if they win their games in hand, such is the league at the moment. All we can do is keep winning and keep ourselves in the conversation.
Gala Fairydean are now 3rd with a game in hand., and play the dreaded 4-5-1 so we shall see how our 3-5-2 Wingbacks fairs.

Glasgow is back in with Lumsden up top, MacEwen is getting a start and Burbidge starts as an attacking Wingback after his cameo v Preston Athletic. Mair comes in for Coll. Expecting a really tough one today.
HT Gala Fairydean 0 Civil Service 0

Its not raining in the Borders today, and its a pretty even start, Gala looking up for it. But it was a pretty uninspiring half and I’ll take a point at the moment, 0-0 it finished. Tactically we seem to be having issues getting through – Think I might drop back to Balanced, maybe even Cautious, see if I can draw the Gala line up so we can exploit the space behind a bit more. Both wingbacks changed, Coll for Mair, Gibb for Burbidge. Gibb goes back to Defend duty. Cairney changed to AM from AP.
FT Gala Fairydean 1 (Morris 46) Civil Service 2 (Coll pen 79, Lumsden 84) Att 260 (2 Away)

A good start, Coll maybe should have scored in the first 30 seconds, but then straight away a long ball over the top evaded Hunter, and Morris went on to score to make it 1-0 to Gala. We go attacking. Scott Mackay on for Cairney. Then the breakthrough – a long cross over found Coll, who was scythed down for the penalty. He took it and converted well. 1-1. And the comeback was complete in the 84th minute – a speculative cross-cum shot by Glasgow after a long clearance by McVitie was flapped at by the Gala keeper just under the bar, and Lumsden was on the spot to finish from the rebound. 2-1 and it feels very undeserved. And that’s how it finished – a real smash-and-grab job, and what could be an amazingly important 3 points at the end of the season.
The stats at the end of the same show a slighly different story – we had 3 clear cut chances and a half cahnce to their 2 half chances and we only had 1 less shot on target, but in the highlights it just felt like Gala were continually all over us. It rounds off a good month though, 4 wins and a draw, and now no defeats in 8 – we are becoming hard to beat.

4th – 2 points off the lead, though Edusport have a game in hand 1 point above us, and gala, Vale of Leithen, Kelty and even Cumbernauld could leapfrog us if they win their games in hand, so its a pretty mad season already after 10 rounds. And we play Edusport next in what looks to be a tough November dance-card, only really in the game with Spartans in 14th would we be considered favourites (Edusport twice (one league, one South Challenge Cup), Queen’s Park, Elgin in the cup and Cumbernauld are the other games). See you on 2nd November!
