Part 63 – S2 C1 P9 Match Day 5 – BSC Glasgow (H) 14th Sep 2019 15:00

Brian Kinnear, IRL currently at Camelon Juniors on loan from Rangers

Before we discuss our new keeper Brian Kinnear I have a bit of Admin to go through.

Last Sunday our Ressies won 5-0 away to Dumfries YMCA Res – McConnell with a brace, Dylan Pooler, Andrew Mackay & Rory MacEwan with the goals.

The transfer window has closed, and both Kyle Rankin (GK) and Jake Smith (MC) expressed their displeasure at not being in the 25 that have been registered. They have been released.

So, to Brian Kinnear ( http://www.camelonjuniors.co.uk/signing-news-brian-kinnear/ ) – in game he has been released by rangers, and it was a signing that had to happen. He is now rated our 3rd best player by star rating (Though these are jumping around a lot as we have some very similarly talented players at the moment). I’d prefer better handling (9) but he has solid mentals (13 Concentration & Decisions, 12 Bravery) and 13 Reflexes, though compared to Josh Donaldson he is a fair way back.

So to our home game v BSC Glasgow, one of our title challengers last season. They still have a strong squad but have started similarly to us, W2 D1 L1 so it should be a good game, but these are the ones we need to win if we are going to repeat last year’s league win.

A few changes based on the previous game and the reserves game on Sunday. Hainey starts up top as the TM in place of Lumsden, Mair on the wing instead of Glasgow, with Coll back at WB. MacEwen in for Balfour, McVitie for Clappers, the experience of McConnell and Murdoch in for Niang & Hunter. BSC are playing a 4-5-1 with Tam Orr up front, so we’ll need to keep an eye on him.

First Half Comprehensive Highlights

HT Civil Service 0 BSC Glasgow 2 (Duff 2, Reynolds 19)

2 minutes in a cross found Duff unmarked, who volleyed home to make it 1-0 to BSC – disastrous start, with BSC all over us like a rash. It was 2-0 in the 19th minute, Paul Reynolds at the back post. An early sub, Lumsden for Hainey who couldn’t even pass it 10 yards, and a change to the Gegenpress. We were much brighter from then but just couldn’t score. 2-0.

Second Half Comprehensive Highlights

FT Civil Service 0 BSC Glasgow 2 (Duff 2, Reynolds 19) Att 85 (1 Away)

A much quieter half, mainly because BSC shut up shop and we can’t hit a barn door. It finished 2-0 to BSC. A very poor start to the season, I think I may start looking for another job soonish as this really isn’t working.

Even though we are only 5 games in its only a 28 game season, so we need to turn it around very quickly if we’re going to have a hope of challenging. The next game is in the South Challenge Cup 2nd round away to Craigroyston of the East of Scotland Conference. Who knows what formation and style we will be playing. See you then.
