Before our IRN-BRU 1st round game v Clyde at Christie Gillies Park we have had a couple more signings come in.
5th August – New Signing

Steve Docherty (18, 5ft 11in) comes in on a pay-as-you-play striker on a free, having been released by Aberdeen in the summer. We have seen him a couple of times in the friendlies with Gateshead and Barrow, where he scored, and he will be fighting with Regan Lumsden and James Hainey for the 1-up-top spot, plus is great cover if we use the 3-5-2 more.
13th August – New Signing

Dylan Pooler (22, 5ft 11in) comes in on a Free from Auchinleck Talbot, also on a pay-as-you-play as cover at AMR for Mark Burbidge. he’s pretty sharp but doesn’t have the technicals needed to be picked above Mark. Good Decisons though (12). On star ratings though he is our 4th best player……
So onto Clyde – currently 2nd in league 1 after 3 games, they gained promotion to League 1 in 18/19 after finishing 2nd in League 2. The scout report shows a vastly superior squad to us – we have a couple of players who would be fringe players in their squad, but we are going to go out and not die wondering – Gegenpress all the way.

Docherty is in up top for his first competitive start for the Strollers, and Rory MacEwan is in as a CM on Attack for Balfour. McVitie is in for Clappers for hopefully 60 mins or so as he comes back from his injury. Murdoch comes in for Hunter at the back. We do have a league game in 3 days v East Stirlingshire so I’m mindful of that with these picks. Clyde line up in the 4-4-1-1 that Cumbernauld used in our last game. Get out there and give them hell!!!!!!
HT Civil Service 0 Clyde 0

A fairly quiet opening, with Clyde looking dangerous on the break, a high point being Murdoch doing one of the best Crane-Kick clearances I’ve ever seen 🙂 A good close half of football, Clyde just shading it but 0-0 at the half. I think we will go 3-5-2 for the second half – lets go for it.
FT Civil Service 0 Clyde 1 (Dingwall 59) Att 139 (46 Away)

Again a pretty quiet start to the half but Clyde got the breakthrough in the 59th minute. A free kick found Dingwall at the far post, whose first header was saved brilliantly; unfortunately he was hand to put in his own rebound. Clappers & Balfour came on for McVitie & MacEwan. We definitely had chances to get back into it with Glasgow missing a couple of sitters and it finished 1-0 to Clyde, in a game where we really didn’t look out of place.
