Our new signing Paul Cairney has had a good career to this point – 63 Premiership games over 3 seasons for Hibs & Kilmarnock and Championship games with Partick Thistle & Ayr before playing 5 games for Peterhead last in-game season (2017-18). My hope is he has a couple of good seasons left at this level and he can impart some of his experience via mentoring.
We turn our attention to today’s game versus Edinburgh Uni – 1st v 14th – and with both BSC & East Kilbride playing today it we could potentially be 7 points clear with 7 to play, or it could be back to a solitary point.

I’ve gone back to Control for this one but will switch back to gegenpress if needs must. Mair is in for Newell, Balfour as Mezzala for McVitie, Clappers in as DM. This is Kelly’s last game before a 1-game ban for yellows. Edinburgh line up in the 4-5-1 of doom. Lets go.

A good start, Barras stinging the keeper’s hands and Faye heading at the keeper, but we couldn’t get that goal to spark the landslide. 0-0. Gegenpress for the 2nd half I think, Edinburgh aren’t producing anything so we should be able to turn the screw.

We just couldn’t break the 4-5-1 down – Hit the woodwork 3 times, 8 shots on target, the oppo keeper getting a 7.3 – FM wont let you score sometimes. Still, not a loss, but the 4-5-1’s we come up against with scouted-poor-players seems OP from a defensive standpoint. I do think though Gegenpressing from the start of the game may be more effective, and falling back to Control if we get a lead. Will be looking at that next time.

Well, its still a 4-point lead – East Kilbride drawing with Vale of Leithen. BSC Glasgow are 6 points back with a game in hand, so our game with them in mid-March with 3 games left afterwards will be huge. Bums are starting to squeak a bit.
