Before our 33 mile journey over the Clackmannanshire Bridge to Alloa our Reserves played away to Dumfries Reserves on the Wednesday, winning 4-1; Jack Downie, Joe Boyle & 2 from Ross Guthrie again – He’ll be playing in the Linlithgow Rose South Challenge Cup match this Wednesday coming.
BSC Glasgow ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BSC_Glasgow_F.C. ) originate from the Broomhill area of Glasgow but have been playing in Alloa since the 2016/17 season. They have been in the Lowland league since the 2014/15 season having been founded in 2014 and finished 3rd in the 2017/18 season (They finished 2nd IRL last season to East Kilbride).
The view of the scouts is that they lack the top end player we do but have more strength in depth in the 3* current ability region so this will be a tough one. The season preview had them to finish 3rd as well…

We start as normal in the 4-1-4-1 DM Wide on Cautious (Changed after the above screenshot) instead of the normal Positive as I think this may help against an opposition who is happy at sitting back. I looked at the stats for their last game, a 1-0 win against Dalbeattie Star. Look at the state of this:

Looks like a bit of an FM-ing to me. They seem happy to disrupt the game through fouls.
Garden gets a game up top, and Mackay on the left wing. Balfour is back from injury and starts as a CM(A), Devers as the AP. McVitie keeps his spot as Clappers is still suspended (McVitie now has an orange spot at DM in his profile 🙂 🙂 🙂 ). Mair starts as Left Back again after his MOTM performance in the last game. BSC are playing a 4-5-1, which seems to be a bit of a default at this level but have won 5 in a row so its obviously working. They don’t seem to have played against a 4-1-4-1 yet though, whereas we’ve played against 4-5-1 four times and won all of them.
HT BSC Glasgow 0 Civil Service 1 (McConnell 2)

Civil Service took the lead in just the 2nd minute – A McVitie free kick took a wicked deflection, was saved but McConnell was on hand to put the ball home. BSC looked composed on the ball but lacked any real edge, Donaldson holding both the shots he faced. Really good pass completion and possession again. I may swap Faye out for Barras if he doesn’t pick up before 60 mins. Lets close this one out!
FT BSC Glasgow 0 Civil Service 1 (McConnell 2) Att 44 (2 Away)

We very much sat on the 2nd half but have come away with a massive win in terms of the season as a whole. And another clean sheet. As you can see from the ratings above the back 5 were solid as a rock as usual, and are definitely the bedrock of our unfolding title challenge. If we can keep picking up 1-0’s against teams that really are interested in playing an open game of football I’ll be ecstatic 🙂

11 done, 30 points and 7 points clear at the top #limbs. A change in pace in the next match – Linithgow Rose in the South Challenge Cup 4th round with a fair bit of rotation. See you then.
